Dhaka University D Unit Admission Test Notice 2020-2021

Dhaka University(DU) is one of the top universities in Bangladesh. It is the oldest and most prestigious educational institute in our country. It is a dream of many students to study at Dhaka University. It was established on the first day of July 1921 during the British Era.  It has made significant contributions to the modern history of Bangladesh. Today, it is the largest public research university in Bangladesh. Dhaka University has 5 different units with several subjects. Each of these units has different requirements.

why choose D Unit?

D Unit is for those students who are willing to migrate from their group to another one. For example, science students can migrate to business studies and humanities group. Students of humanities can get admitted in Math and Statistics and all departments of business studies. Business studies students can get admitted to all departments of business studies and humanities except they can not get admitted in Math and Statistics. So it is a great advantage for students to be able to change their group if they really want.

Dhaka University Will Hold Divisional Examination.

 

Due to the COVID crisis, Dhaka University  Admission Examination Committee has decided to hold a divisional exam, That means every examinee will sit for the exam in their own hometown or the district they live in, or the district they choose to give the exam. The total evaluation marks are said to be 100 and 20 marks will be for SSC & HSC result. This decision is valid for only the students of the 2020-2021 academic session.   • Viva exam won’t be held this year.
  • The decision is yet to be made whether the exam will be only MCQ or part MCQ and part Written.

 

Online Application Deadline:

The online application notice 2020-2021 will be published on the official website. Here is the probable Online Application timeline:

Online Application Starts: January 2021
Online Application  Finish: February 2021

 

The following Marks Distribution is for previous sessions-

Marks distribution & Prospectus:

 

  • The total evaluation mark is 200.

    SSC & HSC result:
    80 marks

    Admission Examination:
    120 marks

    Time: 1 hour 30 mins

  • Admission exam is divided into two parts-   
                                        a) Multiple Choice Question(MCQ): 50 mins
                                        b)Written part: 40 mins
                                 

    MCQ MARKS DISTRIBUTION

  • The value of every question is 1.25.
  • For each wrong answer, 0.30 numbers will be deducted.
  • Only A-Level / GCE students will have to answer Advanced English in every part of the exam.
  •  SSC GPA (with optional) will be multiplied by 6 and HSC GPA (with optional) will be multiplied by 10 and the sum of these will be considered as the result value.

Pass Marks:

  • In the MCQ exam minimum marks to be attained is-
                                                  1. Bangla / Advanced English- 6 marks
                                                  2. English- 6 marks
                                                   3.General knowledge- 12 marks.
    and a total of 30 marks must be obtained to qualify for the exam.
  • In the written test minimum total of 12 marks must be obtained.
  • In MCQ & Written test total of 48 marks must be obtained.

 

       Dhaka University D-unit Admission Requirements:

 

There are some requirements for students in order to apply in D-Unit. here are all the requirements you need to know according to groups-

  • For the Science group, the sum of total GPA of SSC & HSC (with optional/4th subject) must be 8.0
  • For the Business Studies group, the sum of total GPA of SSC & HSC (with optional/4th subject) must be 7.5
  • For the Humanities group, the sum of total GPA of SSC & HSC (with optional/4th subject) must be 7.o

Established in 1921, the Faculty of Arts is one of the largest faculties of the university, consists of sixteen Departments: Department of Bengali, Department of English, Department of History, Department of Islamic History and Culture, Department of Philosophy,  Department of Arabic, Department of Islamic Studies to name a few. The academic activities of these departments are conducted by the Faculty of Arts. Four research journals, two in Bengali and two in English are published every year from the Faculty. The Faculty of Social Sciences is one of the oldest, largest, and most diverse academic units at the University of Dhaka. Established on 2 October 1970, the Faculty has expanded in size and importance to include a wide range of academic disciplines that study human culture, society, and politics, and that are theoretically based and empirically well-founded.  The Department of Commerce was established under the Faculty of Arts of the University of Dhaka in the year 1921. This Department emerged as an independent Faculty in 1970 with only two Departments the Department of Management Studies and the Department of Accounting Information System in 1970. The Department of Marketing and the Department of Finance was created in 1974. The 4-year BBA Program was introduced in place of the 3-year B.Com. (Hons) Program There are two Academic Bhabans, one Administrative Building, and one Auditorium Bhaban in the Faculty. Dhaka University opened its doors to the students on the 1st July 1921 with only three faculties, namely the Faculty of Science, Faculty of Arts, and the Faculty of Law. The Faculty of Science started its journey with only three departments namely, Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry. Over the years the Faculty has undergone significant changes. New Departments have been established with an increase in the number of students. The department of Mathematics was established in 1921 and Statistics in 1950.
